Construction operations / Agent field guide

AI Agents for Construction Companies

Give one recurring check a defined process, clear source records and a person responsible for the result.

On this sheet

What does an AI agent do in a construction business?

An AI agent follows a defined sequence of steps using the records, tools and rules you approve. It can check an estimate, organise defect evidence or prepare a draft update, then put the result in front of the person who reviews it.

Start with one task and agree its inputs, permitted actions and approval point. Specify what happens when a document is missing, a figure is unclear or two records disagree. The agent should flag the gap for a person to resolve.

Service area: Australia-wide, online. In person on the Gold Coast.

Four tasks, each with a named reviewer

These examples show how to define an agent’s job. The records, connections and checks are agreed for your business.

Estimate review

Check estimate lines against agreed rules and prepare a workbook with issues for review. Keep the original figures and the reason for each flag visible.

Human review: An estimator checks quantities, rates, margin and scope, then approves the estimate before it reaches the client.

Defect records

Bring a site photo, location and note into one draft defect record. Flag missing details and suggest a category or trade for the supervisor to check.

Human review: The supervisor confirms the record, priority and assignment, inspects the repair and authorises closure.

Client updates

Prepare a draft progress update from approved site records, with the source for each statement available to the project team. Flag missing information for follow-up.

Human review: The project manager checks progress, dates, variations and commitments before sending the update.

Tender checks

Compare a draft response with the supplied tender requirements. Prepare a checklist of requested documents, unanswered items and differences that need attention.

Human review: The tender lead confirms the interpretation, commercial position and final submission.

From a 231-line estimate to a client-ready workbook

For a national renovation contractor, Flowtivity built a pre-estimate review agent that checks every estimate before the client sees it. It catches zero-quantity lines, margin leakage and typo-class errors.

  1. Input231-line estimate

The estimate enters the review process.

  2. ChecksReview before issue

Zero-quantity lines, margin leakage and typo-class errors.

  3. OutputClient-ready workbook

The estimate becomes a workbook in one step.

Every reviewer correction becomes a new check. The client owns the stack, on Australian infrastructure.

The reviewer’s correction is part of the process: it gives the next estimate another check to run. The person responsible for the estimate retains the approval decision before it is issued.

Put the approval point into the process

  1. Before access: Agree which records the agent can read, what it can change and who can approve those permissions.
  2. Before use: Check the draft against its source records. Resolve flags, missing evidence and conflicting figures with the person who owns the task.
  3. Before issue: Require the named reviewer to approve an estimate, client message, tender submission or defect closure.
  4. After a correction: Review the new check and use it in subsequent runs. Keep the correction and approval record with the task.

For a first discussion, bring the process and the approval point. You can describe the task without sharing project documents.

Choose where the agent runs

Flowtivity offers a dedicated Australian cloud, with the option to take full control of your own AI model in Australia. The approach is interoperable, with no lock-in. Agree data access, ownership and connections to your existing tools when scoping the work.

Typical AI agent running costs in AUD

Typical running costs are per agent, per month. Discuss the expected workload and model use when scoping an agent.
